Ellie is a Consultant Physiotherapist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, specialising in the management of spinal disorders and chronic pain. Ellie leads a triage team of extended scope practitioners, and is very proud to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiencies that extended scope roles provide to a busy secondary care spinal unit. Publishing service outcomes locally and nationally Ellie has continued to develop the ESP role, she now hopes to apply for funding to start her PhD, exploring the management of spinal pain in secondary care. Current research interests include the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in low back pain sufferers. Presenting her findings internationally at Spineweek she endeavours to raise awareness amongst her colleagues regarding this complex and distressing issue. Ellie has close links with Nottingham University and is currently working alongside BSc Physiotherapy students to examine the recently published NICE guidance in relation to clinical application and secondary care referral.
